YouTuber’s screen debut a great learning experience
It’s been 4-1/2 years since I, an ordinary high school girl in Nagoya, began posting videos online on a whim. Over time, I’ve had a variety of inspiring experiences. And now – surprise, surprise- I am going to make my debut on the screen. Hooray!
The film, “Egao no Muko ni” (Smiles Leading to Happiness), is set to open in cinemas on Feb. 15. It depicts the struggles and passion of dental-care specialists, who are so dear to my heart.
I play the role of a dental hygienist, a senior colleague of the heroine played by Seia Yasuda. Although this is my first movie appearance, my role is an important one that gives an encouraging push to the heroine, who has a crush on the protagonist, a genius dental technician played by Mahiro Takasugi.
I thouguht I already knew this, but actors are incredible people indeed.
First of all, I was overwhelmed by the script, which was as thick as a textbook. And, of all the things, I was worried most about the age of my character. My character is 25, and Miss Yasuda, who is older than me, plays a character who is 23 years old. It really made me concerned about how to appear as her senior colleague, because usually I just behave naturally in front of the camera. I also had fresh surprises in the shooting and editing. The crew sometimes shot the same scene many times from different angles and combined all the versions together. Other times, they shot each scene regardless of the sequential order and combined them together like a puzzle during the editing process. I said “Wow” many times and learned a lot from the experience.
Personally, I thought I could do it somehow. The other day, however, someone from my agency saw the film and asked me, “Ayano-chan, were you all right with the film?” Doubt quickly kicked in. The film won the award for best feature film at the Monaco International Film Festival last month, so I guess I didn’t do much wrong, but … did I give a good performance, or a goof performance? 同じシーンを何度も違う角度から撮影し、それを合成することもありました。
Other times, they shot each scene regardless of the sequential order and combined them together like a puzzle during the editing process.
また、順番に関係なく撮影し、編集でパズルのように組み合わせていくこともありました。
I said “Wow” many times and learned a lot from the experience.
何度も「すごいな」と思いましたが、とても勉強になりました。
Personally, I thought I could do it somehow.
個人的には、なんとかできるんじゃないかと思っていました。

ところが先日、所属事務所の人がこの映画を観て、”アヤノちゃん、この映画大丈夫だった？”と聞いてきたんです。と言われ、一気に疑心暗鬼になりました。

音読の方法
- ひとつの長文を1日1回2週間音読するようにしましょう。
- 一つ目の長文の音読を始めて1週間たったら2つ目の長文の音読を始めましょう。
- 以降、1日に2つの長文を1回ずつ音読するようにしましょう。
- ひとつの長文を2週間音読したら、別の長文を同じように2週間を音読するようにしましょう。
リスニングトレーニングの方法
1.聞き読み
「聞き読み」とは、英語の音声を聞きながら、スクリプトを黙読する練習です。この学習方法を実践すれば、英語を語順通りに読み下す習慣が身につきます。英文を日本語に訳しながら聞いているため、音声のスピードでは内容を理解できない場合に有効です。
音声を聴きながらスクリプトを読み、その意味を把握しましょう。「聞き読み」のポイントは、英語の語順に慣れることです。英語の音声にリードしてもらいながら英語を読んでいきましょう。
2.オーバーラッピング
「オーバーラッピング」とは、英語の音声を聞きながら、自分でスクリプトを音読することです。自分で発音してみることで、頭の中で想像している音と実際に耳で聞いた音の違いに気づくことができます。英語の音声についていけない場合は一文ずつ音声を再生し、一時停止して、英語の文章のリズムや音の強弱をよく聞いて、聞こえてくる音を真似して発音してみます。
3.シャドーイング
「シャドーイング」は、英語の音が流れるとそれを真似して発音し、できるだけ早く復唱するというものです。これは、前項の繰り返し（一文ずつ暗唱する）よりも、間髪入れずに聞き取り、話さなければならないので、より厳しいものとなっています。詰め込みすぎや繰り返しと同様、聞き慣れない音が多い方におすすめです。スクリプトを見ないで「シャドーイング」をするのが理想ですが、負担が大きいと感じたら、スクリプトを補助的に見ることもできます。最終的には、スクリプトを見なくても、その文章を真似して暗唱できるようになることを目標にしましょう。
「シャドーイング」のポイントは、抑揚、音の強弱をよく聞いて真似することです。そうすると、重要な単語が力強く、リズミカルに発音されていることが納得でき、聴いたときにその重要なポイントを聞き取ることができます。最初は時間が足りず、ついて行くのに精一杯かもしれませんが、同じパッセージを何度も辿って、正確に言えるようになるまで頑張ってください。
「シャドーイング」の仕上げの段階では、スマートフォンやテープレコーダーで録音するとよいでしょう。録音して客観的に聞くと、自分の発音とお手本となるネイティブスピーカーの発音の違いを明確に認識することができるようになります。面倒くさい、恥ずかしいと思うかもしれませんが、リスニングと同時にスピーキングも鍛えられるので一石二鳥です。
4.ディクテーション
「ディクテーション」とは、音声を聞いて、一つ一つの単語を正確に書き取る学習方法です。この方法は、ある音が聞き取れないが、なぜ聞き取れないのかがわからないという方におすすめです。
「ディクテーション」はリスニング力を高める方法の一つですが、リスニング力だけでなく、ライティング力を強化することもできます。単語は聞こえても、スペルがわからないところがあるかもしれません。正しいスペルをチェックして、文章力をアップさせましょう。
