US mothers lose money and jobs – level 1
Mothers make less money than other people.
This is called the “motherhood penalty.”
A study shows that mothers in the US make less than women with no kids and much less than men.
Some mothers stop working because childcare costs too much.
Others work less hours.
They do not get money to save for later.
Some mothers are afraid of the future.
Their husbands have more money. Some moms feel sad or angry.
They work hard but have to stop for their kids.
Still, they say that they love their children very much.
They just do not think being a mother will be this hard.

US mothers lose money and jobs – level 3
Research shows that 15 years after college, US mothers earn 11% less than women without children and 42% less than fathers. This is called the “motherhood penalty.”
Many women who became mothers told The New York Times that having kids forced them to leave careers or take part-time jobs.
Child care was too expensive, and some had children with special needs.
One woman said motherhood should come with a warning label.
Another said she lost 750,000 dollars in potential earnings. Mothers said they were tired, stressed, and left out of promotions or special projects.
While men with kids often advanced, women with kids disappeared from the workplace.
Many stopped saving for retirement or lost job benefits like pensions and Social Security.
Some felt trapped, dependent on their husbands, or scared for the future.
Others couldn’t return to work even with degrees and experience.
Still, most said having children was worth it. They just didn’t expect the financial and emotional cost to be so high.

3. シャドーイング…英語の音声を聞いたら、スクリプトを見ずに真似して発音し、復唱します。リスニングと同時にスピーキングも鍛えらます。
4. ディクテーション…音声を聞いて、一つ一つの単語を正確に書き取ります。リスニング力を高める方法の一つですが、リスニング力だけでなく、ライティング力を強化することもできます。
